At the 4th International Congress of Industrial Beekeepers of Russia taking place these days in Ufa, the premiere of a new product on the market of beekeeping products took place. Our company presented to the professional community the Apipulse system for comprehensive monitoring and notification of the state of bee colonies.
Apipulse can be compared to a “smart home”, only for a hive.
A digital hive, a smart home for bees and the beekeeper, Apipulse provides information on important parameters: sound level/sound frequency spectrum inside the hive, temperature, humidity, hive orientation, it is possible to determine the location of the hive.
Such a wide range of available information makes it possible to effectively monitor the microclimate in the hive, the level of stress of the bee colony, and take the necessary actions in a timely manner to prevent weakening of the bee colony or swarming.
Our company has big plans for the Apipulse System. We started with the creation of a Digital Hive, created the hardware that serves as the basis for building a Digital Platform for beekeeping. The Apipulse system collects data for analytical platforms using any global cellular network operator - Rostelecom, MTS, Beeline, Megafon or Tele2.
The hardware of the Apipulse Digital Hive consists of:
- control unit (one is installed per apiary, collects and transmits information from sensors in the hives, which is available to the beekeeper in real time in the Apipulse Application and in the Personal Account on the website)
- bee scales (wireless, easy to install, easy calibration)
- sound/frequency spectrum sensor (sound listening is optional)
- temperature and humidity sensor
- hive orientation sensor, location detection is optionally possible
The sensors are equipped with QR codes that perform several functions:
when placing a sensor in a hive using a QR code, the sensor is linked to the Application,
can perform the function of marking the hive prescribed by law,
with the development of the Digital Platform for beekeeping, it provides full traceability of the origin of honey and bee products.
The creation of the Apipulse Digital Hive opens the way to the implementation of a Digital Platform for beekeeping. What we can do with government support:
- make the labeling of beekeeping products reliable and transparent: all data on the place of detention, conditions of detention, stressful situations for the entire period of use of the Apipulse digital hive is always available.
- by providing access to the digital platform for beekeeping Apipulse to agricultural producers, ensure automatic exchange of information between beekeepers and farmers about the location of apiaries and fields with plantings, upcoming plant treatments and their type, etc.
- when combining Apipulse data with artificial intelligence, wide opportunities open up for analyzing the behavior of bees anywhere in our country, predicting the behavior of bees based on data analysis, drawing up a future work plan based on data analysis, predicting the development of events based on a set of data with, for example, a forecast weather, etc.
When creating a Digital Platform for beekeeping based on the Apipulse Digital Hive and using the Apipulse Integrated Monitoring and Warning System about the state of bee colonies, the following tasks are solved:
- reducing the volume and removing counterfeit honey and bee products from the market,
- preservation of bee colonies and growth of bee populations,
- no losses from the death of bees - both environmental and financial,
- increase in the yield of honey, bee products, bee-pollinated crops.
